Young Cuban Pianist Triumphs in Switzerland

Havana, Cuba.-Young Cuban pianist Jorge Luis Pacheco won second prize and the acknowledgement of the public at the recently concluded International Jazz Contest of Montreux, Switzerland.

“Pachequito” was described by local press as an incredible pianist and an extraordinary interpreter of jazz, according to the president of the contest, Polish pianist Leszek Mozder.

The young artist was the only exponent of Latin America, in a contest in which Europe has majority participation.

A representative of the new generation of Cuban jazz, Jorge Luis Pacheco toured in May several cities of the United States, which ended with an important concert at the Dade Auditorium of Miami and at the Blue Note Jazz Festival of New York.
