Havana, May 26 (Prensa Latina) About twenty young pianists from around the world, including 10 Cubans, will gather here from June 5-29 to share experiences through 19 presentations. The Second Meeting of Young Pianists, organized by four Cuban institutions, will be held at various capital concert halls, including the newly reopened Martí Theater, with a brand new Steinway piano donated by Cuban professor Salomon Gadles Mikowsky.
In addition to recitals of famous pianists from Cuba, Belarus, China, Russia, Cyprus, USA, Israel, South Korea, Armenia, the Philippines and Egypt, the program includes 16 new concertos for piano and orchestra, all accompanied by the National Symphony orchestra of Cuba.
In this regard, the director of this orchestra, Enrique Pérez Mesa, said that offering four weekly concerts will be a challenge.
The event, which is also sponsored by international institutions, has an educational vocation, hence the call for students of the piano departments of art schools in the country to participate in rehearsals.
The program includes a special commented concert by Belarussian Alexandra Beliakovich, aimed at students of music schools, and a performance of Russian Alexandre Moutouzkine, who will present a repertoire of great classics of Cuban piano composition of the 20th and 21st centuries.
