Camaguey, on May 27 – The first Provincial Conference that brought together the members of the National Union of Communication, Computer Science and Electronics Workers in Camagüey province was held Wednesday at the Santa Cecilia Convention Center in town.
The functioning of this trade union, the budget implementation, the fulfillment of the economic plan in different business entities where members of this trade union work at and the saving of resources were some of the issues that topped the agenda.
It was crucial the appeal to discuss at the grass-root level issues dealing with the quality of services provided by companies such as Cuba’s State-owned telecommunication company ETECSA, Correos de Cuba (the Mail) and others. It was also highlighted the importance of training much better those responsible for increasing the IT use throughout the Cuban society.
Osvaldo Aranda Rodríguez was elected General Secretary of the trade union while Guillermo Pavón who works at Copextel was chosen direct delegate to the National Conference.
The National Union of Communication, Computer Science and Electronics Workers in Camaguey province has a membership of 2,100 people, of them 603 belong to the non-State sector, and the rest are workers of the companies Desoft, Radio Cuba, ETECSA, Copextel and the Mail of Cuba, apart from those who work at the Community Computer Clubs.
