The University of Arkansas System’s Division of Agriculture’s Cooperative Extension Service will host an informational webinar on agricultural export opportunities related to Cuba on Wednesday, October 28th at 2PM.
The webinar will feature Steven Zahniser & Nathan Childs, both Agricultural Economists with the U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA) Economic Research Service (ERS). They will offer a historical overview of U.S. agricultural trade and trade policies with Cuba, as well as examine future possibilities.
Cuba was once a leading market for U.S. exports of several agricultural commodities, including rice, lard, pork, and wheat flour. Although challenges persist, recent changes in U.S. policy open the possibility of expanding U.S.-Cuban trade for several commodities.
