Washington DC Mayor Urges Obama to Be Daring Regarding Cuba

Havana, Feb 25 (Prensa Latina) Muriel Bowser, the mayor of Washington DC, confessed that if she had the opportunity to speak with US President Barack Obama, she would tell him to be daring regarding Cuba.

In the context of the process of normalizing the relationship between Cuba and the United States that started on December 17, 2014, Bowser said that the Obama would not come here if he were not determined to achieve new things in bilateral relations.

I believe that removing travel restrictions for US citizens would be one of the fundamental things that would allow us to contribute to the normalization of relations, Bowser said to the Cuban News Agency.

She noted that American businessmen are interested in having presence in Cuba and that is largely due to the fact that many more U.S. citizens have been able to travel to the island and know more about its reality.

The visit of the US official seeks to find a balance between the interests of her district and Cuban interests in order to establish a mutually beneficial relationship in spheres like construction, transport, biotechnology, banking, education and health.
