Caracas, Oct 16 (Prensa Latina) The revolutionary people of Venezuela continue today the celebration for the victory of the Bolivarian forces at the Sunday regional elections, in which Chavez” ideas obtained 75 percent of the governorships.
The United Socialist Party of Venezuela (PSUV) won in 17 states, among them the opposition stronghold of Miranda, led by socialist leader, Hector Rodriguez, according to the results released by the National Electoral Council (CNE).
The self-styled Democratic Unity Board won in five states of the country, including Zulia and Táchira, bordering Colombia and of great economic importance for the country.
After the final speech of the CNE, President Nicolas Maduro welcomed the result of the elections and confirmed that peace, Patria Grande (Latin America), and the Bolivarian Revolution of Venezuela won.
However, he asked the CNE to audit 100 percent of the ballot papers, in order to comply with the demands of certain opposition actors.
He also ratified his willingness to work with the opposition governors who were elected to strengthen peace in the South American country.
Meanwhile, Minister of Interior, Justice and Peace, Nestor Reverol, said that the country’s security forces will remain on the streets until Monday, as part of a preventive patrol.
