Venezuelan Parliament condemns US blockade against Cuba

Caracas, May 26 (Prensa Latina) Venezuela’s National Assembly (Parliament) unanimously approved Tuesday an agreement condemning the economic, commercial and financial blockade imposed by the United States on Cuba.

In a regular session attended by the Cuban Ambassador Dagoberto Rodríguez, Venezuelan Parliament ratified its solidarity and support position for Cuban’s struggle against the hostile US policy.

When reading the draft Agreement, Congressman Edgardo Ramírez highlighted the historical Cuba-Venezuela relations and made a talked about the milestones of the revolutionary collaboration between both Latin American countries.

Ramírez condemned the immoral, illegal and criminal nature of the US blockade against Cuba, which 60 years after its implementation it caused damages worth over US$144 billion.

Venezuela´s Parliament also recognized the Cuban people´s resistance to the coercive US measures, and praised Cuban doctors´ social and humanist work around the globe.

In this regard, Ramírez stressed that despite obstacles imposed by the US blockade, Cuba managed to develop five vaccine candidates, as part of the fight against the Covid-19 pandemic.

Cuban Foreign Minister Bruno Rodríguez recently denounced that the US blockade´s economic impacts on Cuba account for a US$12-15 million daily cost.

On Twitter, Bruno Rodríguez said damage caused by the US blockade to the Cuban economy amounted to $17 billion in the last five years.
