Venezuela highlights re-election in the UN Human Rights Council

Caracas, Oct 18 (Prensa Latina) Venezuela’s re-election to the United Nations Human Rights Council was a worldwide rebellion against those who seek to impose their policy to destabilize the peace of peoples, said constituent Gerardo Marquez on Friday.

In statements to the Venezuelan television channel, Marquez said that the victory achieved this Thursday demonstrates the majority support of world governments for Venezuela.

The president of the Sovereignty and Territorial Integrity Commission of the National Constituent Assembly stressed that with the support of the United Nations (UN), the peoples ratify the transformation process existing in Venezuela.

Marquez described the triumph of Bolivarian peace diplomacy in the face of pressure from the United States as extraordinary and forceful.

He also recalled that the Venezuelan Revolution has defended human rights since the approval of the 1999 Constitution, ‘which is one of the most humanist in the world,’ he said.

With 105 votes in favor, Venezuela joined the UN Human Rights Council as a free and sovereign country.
