The talks are aimed at guaranteeing peace and stability in the country ahead of upcoming presidential elections.
Jan 29 (teleSUR) Delegations representing the Venezuelan government and the country’s opposition have traveled once again to the Dominican Republic to finalize agreements in favor of national dialogue.
The talks are aimed at guaranteeing peace and stability in the country ahead of upcoming presidential elections. They are also intended to put an end to violence in the South American country in light of anti-government protests that rocked the nation last year.
Likewise, representatives of the opposition seek to advance their own demands.
Government and opposition representatives are joined by international participants who will mediate dialogue between both parties.
Upon his arrival to the Dominican Republic, chief government negotiator Jorge Rodriguez indicated that “we will not tolerate any interference from foreign countries.”
He also insisted that they remain optimistic, since they are “very close to an agreement” with the opposition.
