Caracas, Aug 3 (Prensa Latina) The Government of Venezuela has sent a message of solidarity and condolences this Sunday to the American people after a mass shooting in the state of Texas.
The statement posted by Foreign Minister Jorge Arreaza on Twitter deplores the loss of life and the dozens of wounded during the shooting in two shopping malls in the U.S. city of El Paso.
‘The thoughts and prayers of the Venezuelan people are with the victims of the shooting and their families affected by this event,’ said the head of Venezuelan diplomacy on the digital platform.
Likewise, the executive repudiated this and any other act of violence intended to frighten the populations of the world, and ‘raises its votes for justice to be done in the face of these criminal events,’ Arreaza said.
According to CNN television, the shooting occurred near a large shopping center on the east side of El Paso, located at the intersection of Interstate 10 and Hawkins Boulevard.
The U.S. Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) opened an investigation into domestic terrorism after the attack that killed 20 and injured 26 in El Paso, Texas.
News of mass shootings is frequent in the United States, where the 327 million population is estimated to own 46 percent of the world’s nearly 857 million firearms.
