Por Wilfredo Alayon Perez — Varadero, Cuba, Sep 25 (Prensa Latina) The hotels of Varadero, Cuba”s major coastal resort, are ready to welcome visitors, despite the damage caused by Hurricane Irma recently.
This favorable situation in Varadero, north of the western province of Matanzas and 140 kilometers east of Havana, was verified by over 100 tour operators, travel agencies and company executives.
After visiting a dozen hotels in this tourist resort, they saw the good conditions of the infrastructure, which was mainly damaged in green areas, trees, light roofs, glasswork and aluminum carpentry.
Varadero offers over 20,000 rooms in 52 hotels, 47 of which are ready to welcome holidaymakers.
David Villar, the Spanish general manager of the Cuatro Palmas Hotel, one of the establishments visited, said that that facility ‘is in perfect conditions’ and praised Cuba’s ability to overcome difficult situations.
‘We maintain a quality beach, but the main thing is the spirit of solidarity and responsiveness by employees, managers and the population of this country,’ Villar told Prensa Latina.
