Havana, May 14 (Prensa Latina) Cuba’s Foreign Minister, Bruno Rodriguez, ruled out today that the US Summit of the Americas would address health problems affecting the vast majority of the continent’s population.
Through his Twitter account, the Foreign Affairs Minister assured that the meeting scheduled for June in Los Angeles will not address the lack of health services for millions of inhabitants of the hemisphere, the lack of medicines or the vulnerability of public health systems.
Rodriguez recently denounced the exclusion of the island from the preparations for the Summit of the Americas and the negotiation of a health document that ignores the Latin American reality.
The Foreign Minister described the negotiations on a resilience plan for the Americas as opaque, with neoliberal elements and many shortcomings.
According to the Minister, these negotiations are being held in an obscure manner with the exclusion of Cuba and other member states of the Pan American Health Organization.
In a statement to the press, he added that such negotiations evade substantial cooperation and fundamental financing to face the Covid-19 aftermath.

Governments in the region have expressed their dissatisfaction with Washington’s decision to exclude Cuba, Nicaragua and Venezuela from the preparations for the meeting.
