US Stanford Youth Orchestra to Perform in Cuba

Havana, May 30 (Prensa Latina) The US Stanford Youth Orchestra will offer a concert in Cuba, together with the Havana Camerata Orchestra on June 28, announced Dayana Garcia, director of the Havana Camerata here Wednesday.

The show will start by playing a work composed by English songwriter Edward Elgar and will continue with the 7th Symphony of Ludwig van Beethoven and a piece for ballet called ‘The Bird of Fire’ by Russian Igor Stravinski.

Havana National Theater’s Avellaneda Room will host the show, that will close with a performance of the piece ‘Guaguanco’ written by Cuban Guido Lopez Gavilan and the participation of the Lizt Alfonso Dance Cuba, the Cuban dancing group awarded last year with the International Spotlight for Arts and Humanities, by the US White House.

The Stanford Youth Orchestra will be directed by Anna Wittstruck,and will arrive in Havana coming from Mexico, with nearly 100 young musicians.
