US Norwegian Cruise Company Starts Operations in Cuba

Havana, Mar 9 (Prensa Latina) Norwegian Cruise Line Holdings Ltd. has started operations in Cuba with the arrival of more than 1,000 passengers from Florida, the United States, where the company has its operating base.

This company has been one of the major cruise lines at the international level, with more than 50 years of experience.

Norwegian is the third U.S. cruise company to travel to this country, following the restoration of diplomatic relations between Washington and Havana in 2015.

Previously, Carnival cruise line began its voyages to this capital, in May 2016, and the Pearl Seas cruises started in February 2017.

Cuba encourages the development of tourism modalities that expand the positioning of this destination, which has already received more than four million foreign visitors per year.

More than 88,000 passengers who used this modality have visited the island until late 2016, and the arrival of this kind of cruise ships will be doubled for 2017, spokesmen of the National Port Administration said.
