United Nations, Sep 30 (Prensa Latina) Uruguayan Foreign Minister Rodolfo Nin Novoa on Monday condemned the US blockade imposed against Cuba, during his official speech in the 74th session of the UN General Assembly.
‘In the same way, we raise our voice once again in this Assembly, as for the past 27 years, to strongly condemn the savage and illegal commercial and financial blockade that has been imposed on Cuba for over fifty years,’ he stressed.
These are ‘illegal sanctions, contrary to International Law, that have impoverished the Cuban people and whose serious consequences endanger the future of the Cuban people,’ he added.
Uruguay has a long tradition of the defense of multilateralism, democracy, self-determination and the protection and promotion of human rights, he stressed.
He expressed the ‘deep alarm about the advance of extreme ideologies that try to forcefully apply their own recipes to other countries’ and shamelessly violate the institutionality of regional organizations.
