HAVANA, Cuba, Dec 2 (acn) Friendly games between the men’s and women’s basketball teams of the University of Havana (UH) and the U.S. academic program Semester at Sea took place on Monday at Havana’s Ramiro Valdes Daussa sports center.
Gustavo Cobreiro, rector of the UH, highlighted the fact that this is the first time that students of his center of his studies and of Semester at Sea participate in a game. On this occasion, the initiative brought to Cuba more than 650 students and professors of the United States and of other nationalities.
The game took place in an atmosphere of joy and festivity, which ended with the victory of the men’s and women’s teams of the UH.
Monday’s program also included a visit to the National Botanical Garden and dance classes received at the Friendship Center, where a concert by the group Los Van Van was scheduled for Tuesday evening for the members of Semester at Sea.
These students and professors of the well-known academic program sponsored by the University of Virginia and administered by the Institute of Studies on Board entered Havana’s port on board of the M.V. Explorer on Saturday.
