London, May 26 (Prensa Latina) An online petition on Tuesday urges the British government to seek Cuba’s collaboration to contain the novel SARS-CoV-2 coronavirus, and provide medical care to patients affected by the pandemic in the United Kingdom.

To save lives, the British government must learn from Cuba’s response to Covid-19, and put into practice the domestic legislation that opposes to the US blockade, and we can have normal relations with the island, the claim posted on states.

The initiative is sponsored by Rock Around the Blockade, which claims that the ‘failed’ strategy applied by the British Conservative government to fight the novel coronavirus resulted in the ‘unnecessary’ death of thousands of people, included more than 300 health and social care workers.

In contrast, the British organization highlights that Cuba has managed to contain the spread of the virus with a prevention and control plan, introduction of massive tests, trace and monitor contacts of infected people, border closure, and impose a quarantine since the first case was detected on March 11.

It also mentions the use of biopharmaceuticals produced by the Cuban industry to treat the virus, as is the case of Interferon Alfa 2B, the island’s experience in dealing with natural disasters and epidemics domestically and internationally, and the long history of Cuban medical aid to other countries.

More than 300 people have so far signed the petition for Rock Around the Blockade, a Cuban solidarity organization founded in Great Britain by members of the Communist Revolutionary Group, and the actions against the unilateral blockade imposed by the United States.
