Caracas, Feb 25 (Prensa Latina) Venezuelan Foreign Minister Jorge Arreaza said the U.S. government wants to regain control it had over his country”s economy before the arrival of the Bolivarian Revolution, Foreign Ministry reported Monday.
In an interview on the Democracy Now program, broadcast on the U.S. public television PBS, the official said that ‘everything is about taking control of oil, so they want to overthrow the President of the Republic, Nicolas Maduro.
In this regard, he emphasized people and the executive of the South American country will not allow a foreign aggression, because ‘we Venezuelans are the ones who will solve our problems.
Arreaza highlighted how the international media have constructed a fake story related to the violence generated in the Colombian-Venezuelan border during the weekend, with the intention of demonstrating that the Venezuelan armed forces attack civilians.
‘When you watch television, it seems that Maduro gave the order to his military to shoot the people, and that is not true’, said the Foreign Minister, adding that ‘we were very, very prudent to resist an invasion.
In that sense, he regretted how local right-wing leaders follow Washington’s instructions ‘and beg for military intervention in the nation’ , without considering the possibility of an internal conversation to resolve political differences.
