The largest Trade Fair in over a decade

This edition of the Havana International Trade Fair (FIHAV 2014) is the largest in 12 years, commented Rodrigo Malmierca Díaz, Cuba’s minister of Foreign Trade and Investment, during the opening of the event in Havana’s Expocuba exhibition center.

The minister reported that thousands of businesspeople from more than 60 countries are participating, reflecting the prestige gained by the Fair internationally.

Malmierca, also president of the Fair’s organizing committee, said that the event should provide an ideal opportunity for promoting and explaining the country’s new foreign investment law.

Among the main activities taking place today, November 3, is the presentation of a new portfolio of projects seeking international investors, including opportunities in the Mariel Special Development Zone.
An increased number of Latin American and Caribbean countries are participating, while Cuba’s principal trade partners, Venezuela, China, Russia and Spain are well-represented, Malmierca reported.
