Texas Defends US-Cuba Relations

Texas-State-Map-600[1]Washington, Nov 27 (Prensa Latina) Texas businessman are in favor of U.S.-Cuba relations, hoping that state could become one of the Cuba’s main trading partners, Patrick Svitek, reporter of The Texas Tribune, said.

He added that Governor Greg Abbott is heading to Havana for a three-day trip, hoping to leverage the renewed relationship between the two countries into an economic boon for Texas.

He also said that Abbott’s trip was the latest example of how much the politics of U.S.-Cuba relations have changed.

According to Julia Sweig, a senior research fellow at the Lyndon B. Johnson School of Public Policy at the University of Texas at Austin, that is the statement of the economic and future-oriented forcast that we’re seeing reflected in the country, not just Texas, in the Republican Party.

During his visit from November 30 to December 2, Abbott will meet with staff members from Foreign Trade and Foreign Investment Ministry, the Special Development Zone in Mariel and Cuban Export-Import Corporation.
