Camaguey, Feb 19. – All sugar mills that are operating in the current sugar cane harvest in Camaguey province are energy self-sustained, which means they save a lot of energy and are more efficient. In this regard, sugar mills Batalla de las Guásimas, in Vertientes and Siboney, in Sibanicú stand out for they meet and even overachieve their plans, unlike other cane processing factories within the province.
As for the delivery of current to the national power system, the province has fed more than 8,000 MWH to the grid, which stands 86 % of the plan.
Sugarcane mill Batalla de las Guásimas, around 35 minutes drive south of the city of Camaguey,, is the leading supplier, followed by Siboney, however other mills like Carlos Manuel de Céspedes, Argentina and Brasil do not show such positive indicators.
In general, the five cane processing factories which are operational nowadays in Camaguey province use cane pulp to generate electricity, but not all co-generate electricity. (Juan G. Mendoza Medina / Radio Cadena Agramonte).
