Studies to find a vaccine against cholera are advanced in Cuba

Cuba is already in an advanced stage of clinical trials for the search for a vaccine against cholera, said Dr. Rafael Fando, from National Center for Scientific Research (CNIC).

This is a oral vaccine with live microorganisms, told reporters during a scientific symposium scientist which was held at the Faculty of Law of the University of Havana, in the framework of the International Book Fair.

Vaccine candidate that was able to protect individuals against cholera and also to some important extent, intestinal colonization said researcher.

Scientists CENIC, the Institute of Tropical Medicine Pedro Kouri and the Finlay Institute conducted studies of the new vaccine, which in the expert opinion, could not only prevent disease but also the spread of pathogenic entity that brings.
