Spanish friendship group sent fifth shipment of donations to Cuba

Madrid, May 30 (Prensa Latina) Santa Perpètua de Mogoda, in the province of Barcelona, was the scene of the fifth shipment of the campaign “Tons of Solidarity against the Blockade of Cuba”, it was reported.

This is the campaign promoted by the State Movement of Solidarity with Cuba (MESC), according to what Cubainformación’s general coordinator, José Manzaneda, told Prensa Latina.

Catalonia thus completes its third contribution to the Caribbean island, after the previous charges in Barcelona and Prat de Llobregat. In addition, other containers were made in San Fernando de Henares and Las Palmas de Gran Canaria.

The one in Santa Perpètua de Mogoda has a size of 40 feet with sanitary material destined for Cuba, for a value of 250,000 euros.

This initiative has been led by the local NGO Alkaria, together with the solidarity organizations Mollet amb Cuba, Hermanamiento Nou Barris-El Cerro and the Comité de Solidaridad con América Central del Prat, with the support of the Catalan platform Defensem Cuba.

Also the city councils of Santa Perpètua de Mogoda and L’Hospitalet de Llobregat, gave their support to the initiative, in which an important part of the material was donated by the Fundació Dr. Trueta.

The shipment includes items for geriatrics, first aid and numerous wheelchairs, focusing mainly on two centers for the elderly in the Havana municipality of San Miguel del Padrón.
