Solidarity With Cuba Floods the Historic Center of San Salvador

San Salvador, July 28 (Prensa Latina) With homage to Hugo Chavez, Schafik Handal and Farabundo Marti, the Central American Meeting of Solidarity with Cuba will continue today, initiated with a demonstration.

Thousands of Salvadorans and delegates from other nations walked yesterday from the Simon Bolivar Square to Don Rua, crossing the heart of San Salvador, in order to express their solidarity with the Cuban people and Revolution.

Members and deputies of Farabundo Marti National Liberation Front (FMLN), veterans of civil war, social movements, Latin American diplomats, delegates and people in general, also attended the march.

When it comes to supporting Cuba, such a call and jubilation is inevitable, whose struggle against social inequalities is a reference for Salvadoran revolutionaries, as stated by Medardo Gonzalez, FMLN secretary-general.

‘We always saw the Cuban people as an example of solidarity in going to other nations to shed their blood for the defense of the poorest,’ the deputy said after paying tribute to the Cuban National Hero Jose Marti.

Fernando Gonzalez, president of the Cuban Institute of Friendship with Peoples and Hero of the Republic of Cuba, stated that freedoms enjoyed by Cubans have been possible largely due to the unconditional support of several nations such as El Salvador.
