Havana, Jan 13 (Prensa Latina) Artists from seven countries will compete in the 4th International Young Circus Festival in Cuba, which will take place here from March 6 to 9, the president of the organizing committee, Sergio Suarez, said.
Young people aged 14 and 20 years from Argentina, Colombia, Chile, the United States, Mexico, Peru and Cuba will participate in this event, dedicated to the 40th anniversary of the Cuban National Circus School (ENC) and one of its founders, teacher Roberto Luis Suarez.
The ENC director told Prensa Latina that the program includes performances, theoretical-educational activities, lectures and workshops at the headquarters of that teaching center, as well as at Havana’s Trompoloco Big Top, the Miramar Theater and the Art Laboratory Kcho Estudio.
The event also includes meetings with generations of teachers and graduates, and an illustrated booklet with the history of that school in four decades of existence will be launched, he added.
A jury with prestigious personalities from the Cuban and international circus will assess the technical-artistic level of the shows presented and will grant a grand prize, three first places and the mentions it considers.
The Cuban National Circus will also grant a place to participate in the International Festival, Circuba 2018, to be held in July in this capital and in other provinces of the island.
Belonging to Cuba’s National Art Schools, the ENC opened its doors in September 1977 with just 22 students from Havana and currently has 86 students from almost the entire country.
