Russian Planes AN-158 Improve Cuban Air Transportation

4d32dadc1d22153e55b739b7071af636_L[1]HAVANA, Cuba, Nov 13 (acn) The Cuban Aviation Company expects to increase flights to the Caribbean and Central America with the purchase from Russia of Ukrainian-Russian planes An-158, the sixth of which will be received by the company in the first quarter of 2015.

Marketing vice-director of the Cuban Aviation Company CACSA, RosaElena Nieves told the Cuban News Agency that with the purchase of the Russian planes they expect to complete the national and international routes including other countries of this region.

Nieves went on to praise the quality of the AN-158 planes, which have capacity for 97 passengers and began to operate in Cuba in 2013.

Russia is one of Cuba´s major trade partners and along with planes that country provides the island with spare parts and other modern technology for the sector, said the executive.

The Cuban Aviation Company groups 11 local entities and three economic associations with foreign partners, out of which three are airline companies.
