Russian and Cuban centers extend scientific collaboration agreement

Havana, Feb 11 (Prensa Latina) The Russian Aviation Materials Scientific Research Institute (VIAM) and the Cienfuegos Center for Environmental Studies in Cuba (CEAC) agreed to an extension of their collaboration agreement, it was reported today.

The extension, which will be in force for five years, was signed by the general director of the Russian entity, Evgeny Nikolaevich Kablov, and by Reinaldo Acosta, director of the CEAC, located in the center-south of the island and about 240 kilometers southeast of this capital. .

According to a report released by the island’s institution, the complementary agreement will be an integral part of the initial one, signed in the Eurasian nation in 2016 and considered the first constituted in the Science, Technology and Environment Group of the Intergovernmental Commission Cuba -Russia.

At that time, both centers agreed to strengthen ties for the creation in Cuban territory of a joint station for climatic tests on materials exposed to tropical conditions in the Caribbean Sea.

Also, the communication abounded, it was agreed to carry out scientific-investigative work on construction elements, technical systems exposed to the peculiarities of this geographical area, as well as joint experiments of biological resistance of materials.

As part of the scientific exchange between both institutions, Mikhail Daskovskiy, VIAM project coordinator specialist, said he was very grateful and satisfied with the work of his Cuban colleagues.

For his part, the deputy director of Science and Technology of the CEAC, Alain Muñoz, expressed that the established alliance is strategic and necessary.
