President of Suriname’s Parliament pays official visit to Cuba

HAVANA, Cuba, May 30 (ACN) Marinus Bee, president of the National Assembly of the Republic of Suriname, is paying an official visit to Cuba to commemorate on May 31 the 45th anniversary of diplomatic relations between the two countries.

In statements to the press upon his arrival, Mr. Bee, who will met with his local counterpart Esteban Lazo Hernández and other Cuban authorities and will visit places of historical and cultural interest, said that his visit is intended to strengthen cooperation with a view to current challenges facing the Caribbean region and reasserted his support to and solidarity with Cuba in its struggle against the U.S. blockade.

Cuba and Suriname established diplomatic relations on May 31, 1979 and have since developed strong ties of friendship and cooperation.
