Asuncion, Oct 26 (Prensa Latina) The Paraguayan-Cuban Association of Culture José Martí expressed its support to the Cuban draft declaration before the UN General Assembly against the US blockade on the island.
That measure of pressure is criminal because it attempts against the life of the Cuban people, preventing them from obtaining medicines, spare parts for machineries, medical instruments and supplies and other vital items, noted a statement issued here today.
The approval by the 77th Regular Session of the UN body of the document ‘Necessity of putting an end to the economic, commercial and financial blockade imposed by the United States of America against Cuba’ will be the 29th occasion of worldwide rejection against this policy, the assertion stresses.
The Cubans in Paraguay recall that the blockade also threatens free trade and impedes Cuba’s economic development by imposing extraterritorial sanctions on companies that have commercial exchanges with the island.
The U.S. anti-Cuban strategy -they added- prevents international banks from handling payments related to the island which are common activity internationally and also sanctioning shipping companies from all over the world bring or carry from Cuban ports.
Cubans living in the southern country also rejected the attitude of the U.S. government as ‘absolutely terrorist, as it supports violent groups residing in Cuban territory and abroad, with millions of dollars granted with the well-known assumption of ‘Promoting democracy in Cuba’.
