Nicaraguan president highlights Cuba’s strength

Managua, Aug 15 (Prensa Latina) Nicaraguan President Daniel Ortega on Tuesday highlighted the Cuban people’s strength in fighting the large-scale fire at the Supertanker Base in western Matanzas province, and mourned deaths of several fire fighters.

During a ceremony for on the 42nd anniversary of the Nicaraguan Army Naval Force, the head of State reiterated his country’s love and solidarity for Cuba.

“As always, all our love and solidarity with the people of Cuba in the light of this tragedy that they faced and managed to control,” Ortega said before high-ranking officers from the Army, members of the Navy and part of the diplomatic corps accredited here. He stressed that the fire was controlled by “the strength, conscience and spirit of the heroic people of Jose Marti, Fidel Castro, Raul Castro and Miguel Díaz-Canel.”
