Nicaragua, Cuba to address safe migration challenges

Havana, Apr 30 (Prensa Latina) Cuba and Nicaragua will hold the 2nd Round of Migration Talks to assess the implementation of cooperation mechanisms in this sector, Cuba´s Foreign Ministry (MINREX) reported.

Today’s meeting will help to guarantee legal, orderly and safe migration between Cuba and Nicaragua, as well as the crackdown on human trafficking and migrant smuggling, according to the Cubaminrex website.

Talks will be chaired by Cuban Vice Minister of Foreign Relations Gerardo Peñalver and Nicaraguan Interior Minister (MIGOB) María Amelia Coronel.

According to MINREX, the virtual meeting will continue debating issues addressed in the 1st Migration Talk, held on November 26 and 27, 2019, in Managua.
