Nicaragua Calls for Unity in the Face of Unilateral US Sanctions

Simferopol, Apr 19 (Prensa Latina) Strengthening Latin American and Caribbean integration and unity is a must today to withstand increased U.S. unilateral sanctions against Venezuela, Cuba and Nicaragua, a minister of the latter nation underscored on Friday.

Latin Americans should strengthen integration, always with a strategic vision to gain respect in international trade and cooperation environment, the Nicaraguan Minister of Development, Industry and Commerce Orlando Solorca told Prensa Latina.

According to Solorca, who is also president of the Central America and Latin America Integration, the application of US unilateral sanctions against his country, Venezuela and Cuba goes, precisely, against international trading system.

The implementation of such measures breaks the basis of the multilateral trade system and the Latin American integration, warned the minister, who is attending the 5th International Economic Forum in Yalta, Crimea.

According to the Nicaraguan official, who participated in a panel with representatives of Guatemala, Mexico and Argentina, insofar as the Latin American nations strengthen their integration, they will take more advantage of the potential they have and will be more respected. mh/iff/ymr/to
