New demonstrations in Italy opposing US blockade against Cuba

Rome, May 31 (Prensa Latina) Italians and Cubans living in this European country demanded -for the second straight day- the lifting of US blockade against Cuba.

The mobilization over the weekend called by the National Association of Italy-Cuba Friendship (ANAIC) was supported by other political and social organizations including the National Coordinator of Cuban Residents in Italy (CONACI).

Speaking to Prensa Latina, ANAIC President Marco Papacci showed pride about this weekend´s mobilization, which was attended by its members and also supported by movements, parties, unions and other organizations.

We´re too satisfied with our response in the demonstrations and also because many people took to the streets in more than 30 cities to shout aloud ‘No More Blockade Against Cuba’ and to defend the Cuban Revolution.

A square in the Largo Torre Argentina was the site where hundreds of people, many of them young people, strongly condemned the harassment of successive US governments against Cuba carrying flags and slogans written on banners and posters.

In their speeches, representatives of several organizations highlighted Cuba´s role as a unity factor and their support for its Revolution as the point at which all Italian progressive groups converge, regardless of their differences over others issues.
