Havana, Jul 10 (Prensa Latina) “Arte en la Rampa” (Summer Art Fair), one of the largest craftwork fairs in Cuba, begins today with more than 100 sales and exhibition spaces, as part of the cultural program scheduled for this summer season.
Until September 13, the Pabellon Cuba exhibition center in Havana will host the production of 90 craftsmen, along with 11 state entities and two institutions from the Cuban Fund for Cultural Assets.
For the first time, such events will take place in other regions of the country: Exuberarte, in the central province of Santa Clara, with fashion as a central theme (from July 15 to 19), and a fair in Santiago de Cuba, on occasion of the 500th anniversary of the foundation of that eastern city (from August 13 to 22).
The inclusion of a space dedicated to dance every Thursday is among the first activities of this event, while usual cinema sessions will continue on Tuesdays, and talks with well-known figures of the big and small screen will be on Wednesdays.
Its program will also include many of the activities by Habanarte, a mega-project that try to concentrate on a single event several activities: theater, music, visual arts, dance, film, and literature.
“Arte en la Rampa” will open with a tribute to Cuban animation veteran, Juan Padron, and La Colmenita children’s theater company will celebrate its work for children with the play “Elpidio Valdes and Los Van Van.”
Meanwhile, the Recordings and Musical Editions Company (EGREM) will promote its catalogs, recent discography and products along with the Animation Studios at the Cuban Film Institute (ICAIC), EGREM’s director, Mario Escalona, said
