Maduro Thanks Venezuelans for Their Unwavering Faith, Support

“I thank every man, woman, young man, boy and girl of the country,” President Nicolas Maduro tweeted.

Jan 20 (teleSUR) Supporters of the Bolivarian revolution are the force that keeps the country moving forward, Venezuelan President Nicolas Maduro tweeted Sunday.

“I thank every man, woman, young man, boy and girl in the country for so much love and support. You are the force that keeps us standing up and protects us against artillery attacks, to follow the path to prosperity and happiness in Venezuela,” Maduro wrote.

Social groups, community leaders, diplomats, and members of the public arrived the Plaza Bolivar in Caracas Saturday to show support for the Bolivarian leader and Venezuelan sovereignty amid a slew of economic, media, and diplomatic attacks.

This week, the public will be welcomed to voice their opinions and constructive criticism in an open forum which will be orchestrated in 26 locations around the capital.

Constituent from the labor sector, Nelson Herrera said, “The face of the merchant and spectator will be recognized and through dialogue measures will be adopted that truly benefit the Venezuelan people. These (26) councils and the Congress of the Venezuelan working class will continue to be open, receiving proposals that will be taken to the National Constituent Assembly (ANC).”

On Jan. 10, the president assumed his second term after being elected president of Venezuela on May 20, 2018, with 67.84 percent of the votes.

This Sunday, the president’s social program, Carnet de la Patria, celebrates its second year. The project allows citizens to benefit from various federal programs based on their socioeconomic status using a state ID card.

From Twitter, the Maduro praised the project’s success, saying, “With the Carnet de la Patria, we have optimized the distribution of national wealth, efficiently and equitably. We will continue perfecting the wonderful Social Care System for our people. There is always more.”

Within just a week of his inauguration, the president has already started plans for a new social program, Venezuela Bella Mission, to be launched on Jan. 30. The beautification project aims to renovate 60 cities in an effort to open opportunities to infrastructure, public services, and the cities’ overall aesthetic.
