Laos demands end of US blockade against Cuba

Havana, Apr 8 (Prensa Latina) The president of the National Assembly of Laos, Xaysomphone Phomvihane, ratified on Friday that his country, his party and his government demand that the United States end the economic, commercial and financial blockade against Cuba.

The demand was made during a virtual meeting with his Cuban counterpart, Esteban Lazo, in which they addressed parliamentary relations between the two nations, Cuba’s National People’s Power Assembly wrote on its Twitter account.

Last year, Laos donated medical supplies cleaning products and food to the Frank Pais International Orthopedic Scientific Complex in Havana to help Cuba fight the Covid-19 pandemic.

Diplomatic relations between Cuba and Laos date back to November 4, 1974.

The two countries have joined their voices at international forums in the defense of the peoples’ right to self-determination, sovereignty and social justice.
