Tehran, May 14 (Prensa Latina) The Foreign Minister of the Islamic Republic of Iran, Hosein Amirabdolahian, held a meeting today with the Deputy Prime Minister of the Republic of Cuba, Ricardo Cabrisas, to review the state of bilateral relations.
During the meeting, both sides exchanged on the prospects of economic cooperation between Tehran and Havana, as well as the driving role to be played by both foreign ministries to promote and strengthen it.
Cabrisas and Amirabdolahian agreed in describing the current state of political ties between the two countries as excellent, while stressing the need to raise the level of economic, trade, financial and cooperation relations.
The Cuban side thanked the Persian government for its firm and systematic stance against the policy of economic, commercial and financial blockade unilaterally imposed by the US government against the Republic of Cuba for more than six decades.
The Cuban visitor also reaffirmed the Caribbean country’s condemnation of the coercive measures also imposed unilaterally by the White House against the Islamic Republic.
Both stressed the “special importance” of the 13th Session of the Iran-Cuba Intergovernmental Commission, which will begin its work on sunday in Tehran in order to revive ties in economic, commercial, financial and collaboration matters.
