Iran, Cuba Celebrate 40 Years of Diplomatic Ties

Tehran, Aug 8 (Prensa Latina) The Cuban Embassy in Iran recalled on Thursday the 40th anniversary of the restoration of diplomatic relations between Tehran and the Caribbean country, an event that would mark the beginning of an enduring friendship between the two countries.

In a statement, the Cuban diplomatic mission noted that Cuba was one of the first states to recognize the new republic that emerged after the triumph of the historic Iranian Revolution.

Iran and Cuba, over the course of these 40 years, have mutually supported each other, and relations of friendship have undergone significant development, favoring mutually beneficial cooperation in areas such as biotechnology and health, the text read. The two nations have maintained close and positive coordination in the multilateral sphere and work to safeguard world peace and promote common development, the note added.

The document affirms that Cuba highly values the traditional cooperative relations between the two countries and recognizes Iran’s right to develop research, production and use of nuclear energy for peaceful purposes, without any discrimination.
