Havana, Oct 9.- The social and cultural connotation of Cuba’s geological heritage will be the focus of discussion during the 2nd Meeting on Geology and Society that will session in Havana next October 23rd and 24th, the organizing committee reports today.
Among other topics of discussion, participants will focus on geoparks and areas of special geological interest, said Roberto Domech, a researcher at the Cuban Institute of Geology and paleontology.
The program of the meeting, that will take place in the ‘Sala Atril’ of the Karl Marx theater, includes a group of conferences on geodiversiy, geopreservation and the economic and cultural impact of these issues, as well as a way to promote the interest of new generations about Earth sciences.
The agenda includes the launch of several publications and the acknowledgement of relevant geologists. There will also be a space for different exchanges with children and teenagers who have an interest in geology. (Prensa Latina).
