Santa Clara, Cuba, Dec 26 (Prensa Latina) A likely performance by Argentinian singer-songwriter Leon Gieco has raised great expectation in this central Cuban city, the venue for the Longina Festival of Troubadours. His name outstands in the program of this fiesta that every year gathers the best musicians that perform traditional ballads, a musical expression called “trova,” to pay tribute to Manuel Corona, the writer of “Longina”, and other troubadours.
According to the program, Gieco, the writer of the famous “Solo Le Pido a Dios”, is expected to perform at La Caridad Theater on January 8th, on the eve of the customary peregrination fo Corona’s grave in Caibarien town.
Organizers told Prensa Latina that Cuban troubadours Tony Avila and Roly Berrio are also scheduled to perform during the closing concert.
They added that La Trovuntivitis project will be in charge of opening the festival at the main, picturesque “Malecon” of Santa Clara, near la Caridad Theater.
