By Waldo Mendiluza Paris, Oct 14 (Prensa Latina) French university professor and activist Jean Ortiz on Monday described the economic, commercial and financial blockade imposed by the United States against Cuba for six decades as immoral and criminal.
During an interview with Prensa Latina, less than a month before the UN General Assembly votes again on the hostile policy, Ortiz considered that violating human rights to such a scale with the objective of trying to starve a people cannot be called anything else.
‘It is inconceivable that such a thing can happen, that the United States can maintain this cruelty against a small country that does not bother anyone,’ he said.
The professor rejected the economic impact of Washington’s aggressiveness and accused the White House of wanting to sow hunger and despair to provoke Cubans to rise up against the government they have chosen.
The Cuban government is the victim, it is not responsible for the situation created by an absurd policy, aimed at destroying the Revolution, because they see it as a bad example, the black sheep, he stressed.
Regarding the November 7 vote in the UN General Assembly, on a draft resolution submitted by Cuba every year since 1992 demanding the end of the blockade, he regretted that the United States continues to dismiss the opinion of the majority of member States of the multilateral organization.
