Paris, Sep 17 (Prensa Latina) The Cuba Yes France solidarity organization has renewed its support for the Caribbean island and Venezuela in the wake of the current complex situation in Latin America, at the L”Humanite festival, which ends today.
The president of the association, Charly Bouhana, stressed the unrestricted support for the two nations and reiterated the commitment to continuing to develop an active solidarity towards both peoples from this European nation.
Bouhana particularly referred to the recent passing of Hurricane Irma along the northern coast of Cuba, where 10 people died, and severe material damage was reported, so ‘we want to tell them that we share their pain.’
‘The reconstruction work is huge, but for 50 years, Cubans have proved that they are capable of rising, and we will be at their side to support them with our means,’ he said.
The French legislator François Michelle Lambert stressed that in the face of this kind of catastrophe, ‘the most important thing for Cuba is the preservation of human lives, a model that has been praised even by the United Nations.’
The president of the France-Cuba parliamentary friendship group also expressed willingness to support the Caribbean nation: ‘Everybody knows that my heart beats twice, once here and once in Cuba, because I am lucky to be Cuban and I bear that nationality proudly,’ he said in reference to his birth in Havana.
Cuban Ambassador to France Hector Igarza and the official of the Central Committee of the Communist Party, German Ferras, expressed gratitude during the ceremony, and the decision to work to rebuild the country.
