Washington, Oct 20 (Prensa Latina) The National Network on Cuba (NNOC), a friendship organization in the United States, welcomed five new organizations to its ranks during its annual conference that concludes here today after two days of work.
The members of the coalition that defends, among other demands, the end of the blockade enforced by Washington against the neighboring island for almost 60 years, approved the membership of the New York-New Jersey Cuba Yes Coalition, Pro-Libertad, and Women in Struggle.
The Democratic Socialist Organizations of America (DSA) and Committees of Correspondence for Democracy and Socialism also joined NNOC.
When asked about why DSA, which identifies itself as the largest socialist organization in the United States, decided to join the work of NNOC, one of its members, Tom Wojcik, referred to the respect existing within that group for the self-determination of Cuba.
Wojcik explained that his organization approved joining NNOC during the DSA Convention last summer, when its members also voted in favor of a statement expressing solidarity with the Cuban people and categorically oppossed the blockade.
