ITALY, February 5, 2015. Executive Director of the United Nations World Food Programme (WFP), Ertharin Cousin, received the Cuban Ambassador Alba Beatriz Soto Pimentel during the presentation of her Credential Letters as Permanent Representative of Cuba.
During the fraternal meeting, both parts expressed the satisfaction for the cooperation between WFP and Cuba during the years, as well as for the approval of the Program for Cuba in the last Executive Board last November.
Cuban Ambassador stated that Cuba will continue working with the WFP in its two conditions as donor and receiver of the cooperation and reiterated the willingness to continue supporting the actions carried out by WFP to end with hunger, food insecurity and malnourishment in the world.
The Executive Director highlighted the excellent work carried out by Cuban doctors all over the world and the contribution to better the health and nutrition habits. She also recalled her visit to Cuba in 2013.
Cousin was accompanied by Claudia von Roehl, Director of the Relations with Donors Division, and Aya Shneerson, Advisor to the Transformations Management group at WFP.
The Cuban diplomat was accompanied by First Secretary at the Cuban embassy, Silvia Álvarez.
