Havana, Jun 1(Prensa Latina) EU Commissioner for International Cooperation and Development, Neven Mimica, will visit Cuba from June 20 to 23.
The EU ambassador, Alberto Navarro, said that the trip responds to a collaboration for the establishment of one-stop paths for foreign trade and foreign investment, necessary tools for facilitating both operations on Cuba. Navarro offered the information at National Hotel in a working meeting of business branches and the European diplomatic corps on the guarantees of the Cuban State for foreign investment.
The EU will be with Cuba to improve the security of investments and to facilitate trade, so the commissioner will sign the projects to boost the one-stops carried out by the Ministry of Foreign Trade and Foreign Investment, Navarro stated.
According to Cuban authorities, the creation of the one-stops will throw out bureaucracy and existing delays in granting permits, licenses and authorizations required to facilitate foreign investment in the country.
During his speech, the diplomat sustained that in order to increase collaboration with Cuba, they are working with the European Investment Bank. He was confident that in addition to the extended loans by the French Agency for Development, join this position other financial institutions of the rest of the Member States.
Navarro highlighted that the EU commercial exchange compared with 2018 exceeded 2,600 million euros which makes the block the first commercial partner of Cuba and is, in turn, the largest investor, he estimated.
Therefore, we are interested in moving forward along this path, he said.
Over 35 percent of foreign trade is made with the EU, of which half is occupied by Spain and the rest, the other 27 Member States, he gave further details.
