Duma calls on US to compensate Cuba for damages caused by blockade

Moscow, Oct 24 (Prensa Latina) The president of the State Duma (Lower House of the Russian Parliament), Vyacheslav Volodin, stated that the United States will have to compensate Cuba for the losses caused by its blockade.

Volodin recalled that last year, for the thirtieth consecutive time, the United Nations General Assembly approved with 185 votes in favor and only the United States and Israel against a resolution in favor of lifting Washington’s economic, commercial and financial blockade, Volodin said, according to the Sputnik news agency.

“Washington has done colossal damage to Cuba and will have to compensate it, it is 159 billion dollars,” the parliamentary leader pointed out at a plenary meeting of the Duma, which approved the draft appeal to end the blockade of Cuba.

The draft resolution submitted to the UN General Assembly and to the parliaments of the UN member States to end the coercive measures imposed by the United States was presented at the the State Duma on October 19.

Such documents have been submitted to the Duma on other occasions.
