Drum Festival pays tribute to women in Havana

Havana, Mar 8 (Prensa Latina) The Cuban women will be the protagonists today on their International Day, in this 21st edition of the Fiesta del Tambor, in which rumba in the neighborhoods will be the main feature.

That activity is reserved for the Gala Night at the emblematic America Theater on Galiano Avenue, in this capital, and meanwhile, several spaces in the city are dressed in that genre declared Intangible Cultural Heritage of Humanity by Unesco in 2016.

There is a place in Havana called El balcón de mi ciudad, located on Belascoain and Malecón streets, where several concerts, such as that of the Awo Ashe group, will cheer up the evening,

Another jazz recital will take place at the National Museum of Fine Arts with Jorge Luis Pacheco and the Drummers, as well as Giraldo Piloto, Oliver Valdes, and Ruly Herrera, among others.

The tribute to women will take place at the aforementioned coliseum on Galiano Avenue, where Rumbatá, Waldo Mendoza and his group, Vania Borges, and the theater’s Ballet will offer the public the show “Para ti mujer”.

The evening will also feature special guests, like DJ Rickafed y Oro, and Dance Company. jrr/jav/mem/dpm
