Havana, Nov 27 (Prensa Latina) Cuban President Miguel Diaz-Canel is assessing food production in the Isla de la Juventud (Isle of Youth) special municipality, as part of a governmental working visit to that territory on Friday.
According to the Twitter account of the Presidency of the Republic, on Friday morning, the president visited the Cerro Azul productive pole, which is devoted to citrus production.
The head of State also toured a poultry farm that processes meat and eggs.
As part of his morning agenda, Diaz-Canel, accompanied by members of the Council of Ministers and local authorities, visited projects at the Pesca Isla Fishing Industrial Enterprise.
The Presidency repeated on social networks that food production is a priority for the Cuban Government.
Diaz-Canel is evaluating the possibility of production linkages, sustainable development, the use of renewable sources of energy, the local storage capacity and the satisfaction of the people’s demands, among other matters.
According to official sources, these governmental working visits promote the connection between national programs and the execution of local development policies.
Diaz-Canel also visited areas where several construction projects are underway to meet the demands from the National Housing Program.
He also met with young people who are involved in the fight against Covid-19 in Isla de la Juventud.
