Danny Glover Rejects Change of US Policy Towards Cuba

Havana, Jun 23 (Prensa Latina) North American actor Danny Glover today backed the message from the Union of Cuban Writers and Artists (Uneac) against the change of United States policy proclaimed by President Donald Trump.

The Cuban organization sent its message to writers, artists, academicians and US friends of the Cuban culture in order to denounce the change of policy presented on June 16 by the president in a speech that he calls antiquated, obsolete, loaded with falseness and stereotypes.

According to the newspaper Cubarte of the Ministry of Culture, the document has so far more than 800 signatures of people from 35 countries.

Among the most recent signatories are the legendary Uruguayan troubadour Daniel Viglietti and the Spanish singer Pilar Boyeros, who recently performed in this capital at the Cubadisco Festival.

Within the Caribbean nation are the signatures of the poet and writer Miguel Barnet, the great dancer Alicia Alonso, the diva of Buena Vista Social Club Omara Portuondo, intellectuals Roberto Fernandez Retamar, Graziella Pogolotti and Eduardo Torres Cuevas.

In addition, the document is also supported by the director of the group La Colmenita Carlos Alberto Cremata, the musician Equis Alfonso, the actors Osvaldo Doimeadios and Jorge Perogurría, among others.
