Cuba’s Work in Protecting Rights of Children Stressed

ginebra-cuba-proteccion-ninhosGeneva, Sep 25 (Prensa Latina) Organizations from the Cuban civil society highlighted here the island’s work in protecting and promoting the rights of children and adolescents.

The experiences in the work towards the comprehensive protection of children and adolescents were the focus of a parallel panel discussion to the 30th Session of the Human Rights Council, running in this city.

Panelists analyzed the challenges confronting by the Cuban government in safeguarding the rights of children and youth.

The work carried out for standardizing age to engage determined legal relations (labor, civil, criminal, political participation), was stressed among the issues that called the attention of those attending the meeting.

Actions for dissemination and knowledge of international instruments signed and ratified by the Caribbean nation, the mechanisms for the participation of children and adolescents in decisions that affect their interests, were also discussed.
